The Wiregrass Chapter held its monthly meeting at Happy's Restaurant on the square on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m.  With President Wilder Smith Jr. presiding, there were 31 members and guests in attendance. After a fantastic meal, President Smith presented Compatriot Jim Daughtry with his Military Service Veterans Corps certificate, and, then, Jane Durden received her brother’s, Compatriot Tommy Grier, Vietnam War Veterans Corps certificate.
The highlight of the chapter’s Christmas meeting was the presentation of the Fred D. Womack Chapter Distinguished Service Medal. This medal is presented solely by the Wiregrass Chapter President and can only be given once a year.  Also, a recipient can only receive  this medal once.  The recipient this year of the Fred D. Womack Chapter Distinguished Service Medal is Compatriot George Eberett King. King is a charter member of the Wiregrass Chapter and has  been its Sgt-at-Arms since the chapter was chartered in June 2011.
