Mrs. Katherine “Kathy” Kight McKenzie 69, of Garfield, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at home following an extended illness. Funeral services were Sunday, June 13, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Bert Flanders officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, June 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jared McNorrill, Levi Oglesby, Zach Hooks, Mickey Frederick, Xander Morton, and Garrett Garrard.
Mrs. McKenzie was born March 3, 1952, in Kite, to the late JB Kight and Loree Hopkins. She enjoyed reading, cleaning, taking care of babies, and yard selling. Mrs. McKenzie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby McKenzie; sister, Katie Hooks; brother, Ronnie Kight; and grandson, Brandon McKenzie.
Survivors include her son, Christopher Michael of Milledgeville; daughter, Jeannie (Chris) Morton of Garfield; sister, Faye (Carl) Bishop of Oak Park; brother-in-law, Larry Hooks of Garfield; grandchildren, Beth (Dave) Welden, Matthew (Madi) Way, Jesse McKenzie, Houston McKenzie, and Lani, Abby, Xander and Jonah Morton; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
