Jones Commits to UGA Dawgs

Swainsboro Tigers Junior and football player, DeMello Jones, recently verbally committed to Coach Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Jones previously narrowed his long list of schools down to 10.

“Out of the list it came down to two, and Georgia won me over,” said Jones.

Jones says the distance to Athens from Swainsboro influenced his decision. His mother and family can make the short trip to attend his games. He also said Coach Fran Brown and the UGA staff made him feel at home. Jones said they made him feel like he was already a part of the team. Another important factor was the outstanding curriculum that UGA offers.

“Their education is second to none in the country. I’m going to be able to receive a top-notch degree all while competing for and winning National Championships on a yearly basis,” explained Jones.

It’s safe to say that even with his commitment, the other coaches will not give up and will continue to recruit the talented athlete. Jones still has another year of high school and unfinished business at Swainsboro High.

Congratulations to DeMello “Mello” Jones and his family. Kirby Smart and UGA, you are getting a good one!
