On Thursday, March 10, a total of 44 Johnson County (JOCO) middle school and high school BETA Club students, accompanied by club sponsors, made a special delivery to the Betty Gambrell Animal Shelter in Swainsboro.

As part of the club’s requirements, JOCO BETA Club members are required to select a service project each year to complete. For this year’s project, the club set its focal on helping the underprivileged shelter pets. However, with Johnson County not having an animal shelter within its jurisdiction, JOCO BETA Club students loaded a school bus with 1,300 pounds of dog food donations and made deliveries to Sandersville and Swainsboro animal shelters. These donations were split evenly between the two shelters, with both locations receiving 650 pounds each.

Hallie Fonton serves as Johnson County Middle BETA Club sponsor and Gina Bright serves as Johnson County High School BETA Club sponsor.
