Mr. Jimmie L. Brown, 59, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at PruittHealth in Macon following an extended illness.

Graveside services were held Saturday, September 5, at 10 a.m. at Swainsboro City Cemetery. The family received friends Friday, September 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, the 6' rule was enforced during the viewing and service.

Mr. Brown was born January 18, 1961 in Macon to the late David Brown Sr. and Sarah Washington Brown. He loved watching all sports, but football and basketball were his favorites. Mr. Brown coached recreation football and recreation basketball. He enjoyed being a mentor to kids and helped them accomplish their goals in sports. Mr. Brown also ran the clock for Swainsboro High School. Along with coaching and mentoring kids, he enjoyed going fishing. He also loved roofing, putting on shingles and rooftops. Mr. Brown was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He was a people-person and was loved by his family and his friends. Mr. Brown was a member of Lester Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Brown; and step-son, Nealrollis Roberts.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, LaKesha Brown; sons, Ja’Von Brown and Tyrone Adams Jr., both of Swainsboro; daughter, Amber Brown of Swainsboro; step-children, Bryon Roberts of Swainsboro and Kenyotta Roberts of Statesboro; brother, David Brown Jr. of Swainsboro; sisters, Mary Brown, Marion Brown (Jerry) Williams, and Katherine Brown (Charles) Jackson, all of Swainsboro, Glenice Brown (Hosea) Wynn of Savannah, and Eleanor W. Taylor of Macon; adopted sisters, Tammy Johnson of Columbus and Renee Chance of Vidalia; mother-in-law, Brenda Wells of Swainsboro; aunt, Lillian King of Warner Robins; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
