Mr. Jerry Paul Archer, 71, of Summertown, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, at his residence following an extended illness. Graveside service was held Monday, November 25, at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Dr. Jamie Archer and Mr. Mike Evans officiating.

Pallbearers were Dalton Archer, Austin Eubanks, Drake Archer, Elan Archer and Kyle Archer.

Jerry was born May 7, 1953, to the late Sammy Archer and Mary Adell Henry Archer and spent his life in Emanuel County. Jerry served his community for a decade as a law enforcement officer with the Swainsboro Police Department, Emanuel County Sheriff Department and Louisville Police Department. He later worked in Forestry with the Stone Container Corporation. Jerry’s greatest work, however, was the indelible mark he made on the many family members and friends whom he loved unconditionally. To know Jerry was to love him. He had a zest for life and love of adventure that made him unafraid to try new things. Jerry had a lifelong passion for the outdoors that led to many a good time hunting, fishing, racing stock cars and flying small engine airplanes. He was good at anything he tried, but whenever he had a mishap, he would tell about it later with a charm that made people laugh and sit on the edge of their seats and could tell a tale like no other. Jerry was a loving and faithful husband to his wife, Donna, and was the best father, grandfather and uncle his family could have been given. His loved ones are comforted with the promises of Scripture that having placed his faith in Christ, they will see him again. Mr. Archer is preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Archer is survived by his wife, Donna Bailes Archer of Summertown; sons, Jamie (Ashley) Archer of Cumming, Shane Archer of Auburndale, FL and Brandon (Jennifer) Archer of Locus Grove; daughters, Jerris Chaney of Lafayette, TN, Lacey Patterson Archer of Augusta and Cheyenne Douglas of Shellman Bluff; brother, James (Heidi) Archer of Pittsview, AL; sister, Mollie Archer of Swainsboro; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
