Jean Edenfield Clifton, 95, wife of the late James Arthur Clifton, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at her residence. Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation Saturday, March 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Swainsboro. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Blankenship and Pastor Casey Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery, 5199 Elam Rd, in Millen.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Rountree, David Rountree, Bryan Rountree, John Preston Williams, Davis Griffin, Cody Clifton and great-grandsons, Nate Gleaton and Spencer Lawrence. Great-grandson, Sam Lawrence, will hand out programs.
Mrs. Clifton was born April 29, 1925, in Emanuel County, to the late William Edenfield and Annie Page Edenfield. She graduated from Emanuel County Institute in 1943. Mrs. Clifton was a member of the Agape Sunday School Class, First Baptist, Swainsboro and the Governor David Emanuel-Adam Brinson Chapter NSDAR. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Veda Lewis, Mary Lou Willis, Lois Lawson McClain, Alma Curl, and Billie Lanier; and brothers, Ted Edenfield, Roy Edenfield, Snook Edenfield, and Jake Edenfield.
Survivors include four daughters, Lydia Rountree (Mike), Patricia Williams (Ricky), Debbie Williams (Dale), Diane Griffin (Skip); one son, Jim Clifton (Sherri); eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Pruitt Health Hospice for their compassionate care and concern for Mrs. Clifton. Should you so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro.
