James R. Young, age 87, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022. A Homecoming Celebration was held Saturday, July 23, at 11 a.m. at the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Bishop Bertha Jones officiating.
James was born January 31, 1935, to the late Ellis and Nannie Young in Portal. He attended Swainsboro High and Industrial School on Gumlog Road. In 1956, James married the love of his life, Lue Edna Wadley. After 9 years in this union, three children were born; Vincent Timothy, Karen Victoria, and James David Young. In October 1961, James joined The International Association of Bridge Structural Ornamental & Reinforcing Ironworkers Local Union 272, where upon retirement he became a life time member. He was a great provider for his family. Mr. Young is preceded in death by his parents; and two children, Vincent and Karen.
Mr. Young leaves to mourn his passing with his lovely wife of 66 years, Lue Edna Young; son, James David Young of Miami, FL; two step-sons, Jerry Wadley and Freddie Wadley (Maybell), all of Swainsboro; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
