On January 30, 2025, at 6:25 p.m., Swainsboro Police Department Officer stopped a vehicle on South Main Street in reference to a traffic violation. Officers discovered the vehicle was displaying an improper tag, and said vehicle had been carjacked several weeks before in Co-lumbus, Georgia. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule III con-trolled substance, headlight requirements, giving false name and date of birth to law en-forcement officers, affixing license plate to conceal or misrepresent.
