Sheriff’s office taps GBI to help identify human remains found in Blundale

On the morning of Sunday, June 14, 2020, unidentified human remains were located in a wooded area off Highway 1 North in Emanuel County.

Deputies and investigators of Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and determined the remains were in such a condition that the person’s identity, sex, or race could not be determined. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime scene unit was called in to assist the sheriff’s office and Emanuel County coroner in the investigation as to the cause of death of the individual. Foul play is not suspected at this time.

The remains have been sent to the GBI crime lab and within a few days, an identification should be made.
