Graveside services for Hilda Elvira Cross, 70, were held Friday, June 19, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Willow Springs Cemetery with Rev. Johnathan Hampton officiating. She transitioned from this life on June 10, 2020 at her home in New Carrollton, Maryland.

Ms. Hilda Elvira Cross was born May 11, 1950 to the late William and Pauline Cross in Brunswick, Glynn County. She was the first of four children from this union. She began her education at Perry Elementary School and graduated from Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick. In pursuit of higher education, Cross attended Albany State University and Savannah State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and History. In 1972, she was blessed with the birth of her daughter, Tracy Cross. She was a dedicated social worker for Bulloch County Department of Family & Children Services in Statesboro. She later worked for the Dekalb County Department of Family & Children Services in Decatur. Cross had a passion for protecting the rights of children. She was very talented with arts and crafts. Her hobbies included sewing, macrame’, crocheting, making gift baskets, and baking. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pauline Cross; her brother, William Alvin Cross; and her niece, Teasha Cross.

Survivors include her devoted daughter, Tracy Cross of New Carrollton; sisters Connie Cross of Stone Mountain, Cheryl Cross of Silver Springs, Maryland, and Teaner Crobett of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law Rosemary Cross of Savannah; niece Pertrina Cross of Conyers; nephew Ian Harris of Conyers; and a host of cousins and friends.

Mosley’s Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
