Happy National Rescue Dog Day!!!

Posted

Today, May 20, is National Rescue Dog Day. On this day, recognition is given to rescue dogs who have made the lives of their owners much brighter! National Rescue Dog Day recognizes all the benefits of having a four-legged best friend adopt you into their big, loving heart. Shelter dogs are rescue dogs. These abandoned and/or abused animals often overcome extreme obstacles. Yet, still provide comfort, security, and friendship as pets with potential to be much more!

How to Observe

• Volunteer – Taking dogs for walks, grooming, and giving them plenty of affection improves socialization.

• Donate – Check with your local shelter on any needs, such as food, blankets, cleaning supplies, toys, treats, leashes, etc. Financial donations are always welcome, too!

• Adopt – If there is room in your life for a rescue dog, consider adopting.

• Prevent Future Intakes – Remember to spay and neuter your pets!

Adopt Your New Best Friend from the Local Shelter!

During the month of May, the Emanuel County Humane Society is sponsoring a free adoption event for shelter pups at the Betty Gambrell Animal Shelter. Throughout the remainder of this month, you can adopt a new fur-ever friend for free! All adoption fees, including spaying/neutering and rabies shots, will be waived.
