Grand jury returns 11 true bills

The April, 2023 term of the Emanuel County Grand Jury convened Wednesday, April 19, 2023, with the Honorable Robert S. Reeves presiding. The grand jurors elected Jessica Peebles to serve as foreperson, Brian Mitchell to serve as assistant foreperson, and Meyoshi Worthen to serve as clerk.

The grand jurors and the bailiff, John Allen Bailey, were sworn by Judge Reeves as to their duties.

The District Attorney’s Office presented 11 bills of indictment to the Grand Jury, and the Grand Jury returned 11 true bills and 0 no bill.

True bills included:

Karon Eddie McNeal Jr AKA Daron Eddie McNeal: Fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer; Driving under the influence

Charles Jenkins Lafavor: Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; Possession of cocaine; Possession of drug related objects

Greggory Steward: Theft by taking

Yolanda Nicole Artis: Cruelty to children in the second degree

Andrew Michael Bazemore: Criminal attempt to commit a felony; Simple battery, family violence

Wesley Odom: Aggravated stalking; Terroristic threats

Zananii Zahaii Hosang: Fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer; Driving while license suspended

Robert James Bell and Jasper Timothy Baker: Homicide by vehicle in the first degree (Bell); Driving under the influence – under age of 21 (Bell); Driving under the influence – under age of 21 (Baker)

Benedict Anthony Campbell AKA Tony: Burglary in the first degree
