Grand jury indictments

With the Honorable Robert S. Reeves presiding, the January 2022 term of Emanuel County Grand Jury convened Tuesday, February 22, and considered seven bills of indictment presented by the District Attorney’s Office. The grand jurors elected Richard Thompson as foreperson, Robert Fagnan as assistant foreperson and Linda Findley as clerk. Judge Reeves appointed John Allen Bailey as bailiff. The bailiff and grand jurors were sworn in by Judge Reeves as to their duties.

The grand jurors returned true bills for all cases as follows:

Dakota Shaman Sutton one count malice murder, one count felony murder, one count aggravated assault, one count exploitation and intimidation of disabled adult, elder person or resident and one count possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.

Kale Davar Livingston two counts homicide by vehicle in the first degree, one count driving under the influence of drugs, one count reckless driving and one count serious injury by vehicle.

Cassie Lynn Beckum one count homicide by vehicle in the first degree, one count driving under the influence of alcohol, one count no proof of insurance, one count failure to maintain lane, one count open container violation and one count seat belt violation.

Timothy Lee Jones one count homicide by vehicle in the first degree, one count driving under the influence, one count failure to maintain lane and one count seat belt violation.

Desi Lee Hyman Jackson one count armed robbery, one count aggravated assault, two counts possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts aggravated assault on a peace officer, one count criminal damage to property in the first degree, two counts theft by receiving stolen property, one count fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, one count reckless driving and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

John Albert Fleming and Lavana Omega McCoy one count sale of methamphetamine (Fleming and McCoy) and one count sale of methamphetamine (Fleming only).

Javier Alegria one count aggravated sexual battery, four counts enticing a child for indecent purposes and eight counts child molestation.

There being no further business, the Grand Jury recessed until 9 a.m. on a date to be determined in March 2022.
