Governor Kemp endorses King for Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner

Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp formally endorsed John King for Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner on Monday, March 14.

“General John King has faithfully served our state and nation as a decorated soldier, dedicated law enforcement official, and now as our Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner,” said Governor Brian P. Kemp. “Leading the Department of Insurance, John took on the status quo time and time again to lower healthcare premiums for millions of Georgia families, restore public trust in a vital state agency, and put hardworking Georgians first. I know John will continue to make the citizens of our state proud and I’m honored to endorse his campaign.”

"From championing our veterans and law enforcement officers to advancing reforms that lower healthcare costs and expand access to quality care, Governor Kemp and I have worked together to build a safer, stronger Georgia. "I am proud to have the Governor's strong support and total endorsement in this pivotal race. Together, we will secure victory at the ballot box and continue to put the needs of Georgia consumers ahead of the special interests," said King.

John King is a longtime law enforcement officer and Police Chief, who serves as a Major General in the National Guard. He was appointed as Georgia’s Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner in July of 2019 by Governor Kemp and is a seeking a full term in office. Commissioner King is Georgia’s first Hispanic statewide constitutional officer and qualified to run as a Republican.
