Georgia Senate Republicans announce legislative priorities

Yesterday, the Georgia senate republicans unveiled their legislative priorities for the 2023 session.

"I am proud to be a part of such a hardworking group of men and women who are fighting every day to improve the quality of life in Georgia," said Senator Hickman, "Jobs, education, safety, and health are the focus of Senate Republicans this legislative session, and I look forward to leveraging my experience as a CPA and business owner to bring innovative solutions to these important issues.

The Georgia Senate Majority Caucus is building a bright future for all of Georgia by focusing on a few key policy areas. Below are several guiding ideals concentrating efforts in order to make Georgia the best state to live, work, and raise a family.

Bolstering Opportunity and Innovation in the Georgia Economy

• Conduct a prudent income tax reform and tax credit review

• Support an implementation of new taxpayer and homeowner relief initiatives

• Lay the groundwork for the continued electrification of transportation

Cultivating an Educated Workforce

• Senate-led effort to improve literacy rates in line with graduation rates

• Implementation of learning loss grants

• Review degree requirements for state employment

Creating Safer Communities

• Serious penalties for the recruitment of minors for gang activity

• Aggressive bail bond reform for violent offenses

• Enhanced school safety legislation

Supporting the Health and Well-Being of Families and At-Risk Youth

• Expansion of telehealth services for rural and underserved communities

• Increased support for foster families and children

• Extended benefits for income-eligible pregnant women
