Ms. Geneva M. Rich, 86, of Swainsboro, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at her residence following an extended illness. Funeral services were Thursday, April 22, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Mr. Bill Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Swainsboro City Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Ben Claxton, Kyle Claxton, Josh Johnson, and James Judd.
Ms. Rich was born February 9, 1935, in Swainsboro. She retired as an assistant city clerk after 40 years of service to the City of Swainsboro. Ms. Rich loved working in the yard & doing word puzzles. She was a beloved wife, mother, & grandmother. Ms. Rich is preceded in death by her parents, Ridgeway and Leila Henry; husband, Hoke Rich; brother, Jim Henry; sister, Laura Cina Amos; and brothers-in-law, Jim Rich and Carl Roby.
Survivors include her son, Hoke S. Rich, III (Lisa) of Peachtree City; daughters, Denise Claxton (John G.), Debbie J. Rich, and Brenda Akridge (Von Hadden), all of Swainsboro; brother, Ridge Henry (Linda) of Smiths Station, AL; sisters, Lavonia Roby of Atlanta, Jewel Johnson and Frances Chance (James), both of Swainsboro; brother-in-law, D. D. Rich of Swainsboro; sister-in-law, Annie Laura Henry of Swainsboro; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews, & many friends.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
