The ECI softball team was humming on all cylinders in every aspect of the game last week, outscoring their four opponents 29-0. Included in the four shutouts was a perfect game where Clifton struck out each batter she faced.

Tuesday, August 5, ECI honored their 6sixseniors before the game. They made the most of it, defeating Jenkins Co. 7-0.

The game was scoreless until ECI broke through in the bottom of the second inning, scoring 2 runs.

Brianna Rich singled in the inning, followed by a sac bunt by Kelly Joseph. With Rich on second, Kelsey Harper plated 2 runs on a double and 2-base error which had her rounding the bases for a 2-0 Bulldog lead.

ECI scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 4-0 lead and closed out the scoring in the sixth inning, putting 3 more on the board for a 7-0 win for the Bulldogs.

Clifton stood in the circle for ECI, allowing just 2 hits and no walks while striking out 12 Eagle batters.

ECI scattered 10 hits with Rich, Jesley Snellgrove, and Harper leading the Bulldogs at the plate with 2 hits each.

August 27 saw the Bulldogs hosting McIntosh Co. for their second region game of the week. It was a short stay for the Bucs and were sent back to Darien after the Lady Dawgs shut them out 15-0 in just three innings.

To say that McIntosh was dominated in the game would be an understatement. The Bulldogs put 13 runs on the board in the first two innings and ended the game in the third with 2 more for a 15-0 score.

Clifton struck out all nine batters she faced in the 3-inning game, needing just 41 pitches for the win.

Last Saturday, the Bulldogs played a doubleheader for two make-up games due to rainouts earlier in the season.

ECI defeated Southeast Bulloch in the 9:00 game 1-0.

It was a pitchers’ duel during the 1-0 game with both throwers allowing just 2 hits each. ECI scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.

With one out in the fifth, Mattie Grimm walked, followed with singles by Taylor Radford and Joseph for a 1-0 Bulldog lead.

The hits by Radford and Joseph were the only ones for the Bulldogs.

Clifton went the distance for ECI, allowing 2 hits while striking out three Blue Jackets.

At 1:00, the Bulldogs played Johnson Co. in another make-up game. ECI led JOCO in the rainout game 4-0 but was called in the second inning due to lighting.

The second and third innings saw the only runs of the game. ECI scored 4 in the second and 2 more in the third for a 6-0 win and their fourth shutout of the week.

Sullee Boddiford and Clifton led ECI at the plate with 2 hits each.

Pitchers Clifton and Boddiford also combined for the shutout, allowing just one hit each.

The Lady Dawgs had two games on tap this week. Tuesday, September 1, ECI was in Pembroke to play Bryan Co. They play Screven Co. in Sylvania on Thursday.
