As part of Fire Prevention Week, local firefighters presented instruction on fire safety to students at David Emanuel Academy (DEA) in Stillmore.

Chief Mike Strobridge, firefighters Allen Farley, and Theda Yawn brought the Fire Safety House to demonstrate safety tips to classes K through 5. The students were trained in what to do if a fire breaks out in their homes, such as crawling on the floor; feeling the door for heat; and how to stop, drop, cover, and roll if their clothing are on fire.

The finale was having the house filled with harmless artificial smoke and hearing the smoke detector activate.

At the Pre-K in Swainsboro, firefighter Brian Ebert brought Engine 3 to school, gave a presentation, and then allowed the children to view the engine and its equipment.
