County firefighters from Twin City and Swainsboro, EMS, and Twin City Police were sent to the corner of Allen Street and Durden Road at 6:23 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9.
A police officer arrived shortly and reported heavy smoke showing from a one-story wood frame structure located at 802 Durden Road. Heavy fire conditions met the interior fire attack team as they made entry through the front door. Multiple lines were used to gain control of the fire that was now burning above the ceiling and venting out the eaves.
The main fire was under control in a half hour with crews remaining for overhaul until 7:45 p.m. There were no reported injuries to the resident or firefighters. The cause is presently unknown.
