Fire damages McCloud Road home

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, a fire originating in the kitchen caused heavy damage to the single-wide structure at 57 McCloud Road.

County firefighters from Oak Park and Swainsboro, along with sheriff’s deputies, arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the home with fire conditions in the kitchen and living room. A quick interior attack brought the fire under control in 34 minutes.

Units remained on scene for more than 1.5 hours, overhauling and checking for hot spots. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the occupant.
