Family Connection co-hosts Family Literacy Night

Posted

On Thursday, Oct. 24, Family Connection co-hosted the Family Literacy Night at SES. The theme was "Halloween Escape the School". Families were invited to attend this fun event where they were served homemade soup prepared by the teachers and then participated in the Escape Room activity.

Each grade had to read the History of Halloween and The Salem Witch Trials. Then the families had to answer riddles and do literacy activities to discover the code that allowed them to escape. If they escaped the room, they then unlocked a spooky chest that opened to reward them with a new book. Family Connection would like to thank the Mill Creek Foundation for funding these books.

Another big event of the night was the door prize drawings. One of Family Connection Collaborative partners is East Georgia HealthCare. They donated fantastic sports equipment prizes for the drawing, with the grand prize being a basketball goal. Other prizes were soccer balls, flag football sets and a football. Family Connection prizes were gift bags with books, t-shirts, fall decor, mugs, and other sports equipment.

The attendance was exceptional, and it was an outstanding family engagement event.
