Ms. Evelyn “Sally” Hood, 74, of Kite passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at Memorial Health following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Friday, September 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Burton Dixon and Reverend Morris Brantley. The family received friends Thursday, September 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. Interment followed at Moxley Cemetery. In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, the 6' rule was enforced during the visitation and service.

Pallbearers were Trojan Harrison, Mark Smith, Doc Claxton, Trenton Thigpen, Ricky Henry, and Cody Usry.

Ms. Hood was born December 1, 1945 in Swainsboro to the late Felton Newsome and Mary Radford Newsome. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Larry Hood. Ms. Hood was a member of Kite First Baptist Church but enjoyed visiting other churches and making new friends. Her first love was her Lord, followed by her family and friends. Ms. Hood loved animals, especially her dogs, and seemed to have a special way with them.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Lloyd) Slater of Kite; step-father, Leland Tapley of Kite; brother, Billy (Helen) Newsome of Kite; grandsons, Austin Hood and Cody (Teresa) Usry, both of Kite; and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
