On Friday, March 24, 2023, Emanuel County Senior Center Director Beth Gibson, was joined by the Emanuel County Board of Commissioners and the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of Swainsboro’s newly renovated facility located off Highway 56 North in Swainsboro.

A few years ago, the City of Swainsboro deeded the Senior Center over to the County, and the Board of Commissioners immediately hired a new director, improved many of its services and applied for a COBG Grant that they were awarded and allowed them to renovate the center.

Board of Commissioners vice-chairman, Jim Sherrod, shared a few words to commence the ceremony; “I want to say hats off to our County Administrator, Guy Singletary, for applying for the grant. Thank you to Mike Head, our building and maintenance director, for his efforts in overseeing the project. Thank you to Justin Morris, our public works director, for his role and thank you to Ms. Beth for doing an absolutely amazing job as the director of the Emanuel County Senior Center.”

Updates included a new crafts room, a complete remodel for TLC-CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), a fitness facility, and many other modifications.

The Emanuel County Senior Center is located at 42 Highway 56 North, Swainsboro.
