Emanuel County Schools Superintendent Search Update

Posted

The Emanuel County Board of Education continues to make progress in naming a new superintendent to replace retiring Superintendent Dr. Kevin A. Judy.

Among the steps completed in the process, the Board reviewed results of a survey of the community and school system staff to seek input as to the characteristics desired in the new superintendent;  adopted qualifications for the applications; approved and disseminated a recruitment brochure; reviewed applications; and interviewed candidates that appeared to have closely met the qualifications.

Thirty applications were received from a broad range of applicants.  From these, a number of candidates were chosen for close review and were recently interviewed as the Board sought to determine those applicants best qualified for the position.

At least 14 calendar days before taking final action on the position, the Board is required to make available to the public, documents for inspection and/or copying concerning as many as three persons under consideration whom the Board has determined to be best qualified for the position.

Three applicants have been named by the Board as determined to be best qualified for the position.  Information on these candidates is available at the Board office.  Those applicants are in alphabetical order:

Mr. Anthony J. Aikens

Mr. Scotty W. Hattaway

Dr. Denise B. Warnock

The Board hopes to have a new superintendent in place by Wedenesday, May 19, 2021.
