Emanuel County Schools postpone in-person learning due to COVID case rise

FROM EMANUEL COUNTY SCHOOLS:

To All Emanuel County Parents,
The past several days, we have been in constant communication with the Department of Public Health, East Georgia Healthcare, and Emanuel Medical Center over the rising COVID cases in our community. The outbreak has reached a critical point for our medical staff in the county, and the number of cases has increased significantly in the last 48 to 72 hours. To provide for the health and safety of our students and staff, the Emanuel County Board of Education has decided to postpone the start of school until January 19 for all face-to-face students. In collaboration with the principals, it was decided that ECS virtual students will be allowed to begin as planned. Employees will still report to their locations as scheduled. If there are any questions, please contact your child’s school.
Sincerely,
Kevin Judy
