Emanuel County Historic Society to host annual meeting at the Emanuel County Museum

Posted

The Emanuel County Historic Society will host its annual meeting at the Emanuel County Museum on Thursday, April 27 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. The museum will be open for tours from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will have a potluck supper at 7 p.m.

This being their annual meeting, the Historic Society will also have an election of officers and board. Nominations will be welcome from the floor.

A lot has been going on at the museum and many people from the community have asked when it will be open for tours. The annual meeting will be an excellent opportunity for those individuals to take a tour and experience all the new artifacts that are held inside.

The attached photo shows morse code reels that were discovered in Emanuel County Historic Society’s collection. Through research, the society found that the machine in the photo would transcribe them for men who were in service in the islands.

While the Society does not have the machine, it was an amazing find! Many little treasures like that exist in the museum at 161 Museum Road in Swainsboro. The museum is located across from the Jaycee Fairgrounds. The Emanuel County Historic Society hopes to see you there! For further information, contact 478-763-3631.
