September 27

Deputy responded to S. Railroad Ave. in Garfield for a burglary report. Deputy spoke with the owner of the building on the phone who stated some of the residents in the area called him to inform him they believe someone broke into the building and may have stolen some items. Victim also stated he would not be going to the scene and that the residents worked for him and would be standing by for deputy’s arrival. Upon arrival, deputy met with complainant and witness who stated he lived adjacent to the building suspected of being broken into and he looked out his back window and saw a light on inside the building that had just recently been turned on. C/p stated he did not hear anything but the light being on was suspicious. C/p stated he then called witness who over saw the building and before witness could arrive on scene, the light had been turned off. Witness arrived and they searche3d the area for anything out of place and stated they observed a back bay door had been rolled up that they were certain had been closed and that door led to where the light had been turned on. Witness stated he observed a tool box with a pad lock had been bothered and stated he could tell that someone had messed with the padlock and got it open. He also stated there was a Makita Angle Grinder missing from the tool box that belonged to victim. C/p and witness did not see anyone in the building and did not observe anything else to be missing or damaged at that time. Deputy was informed that a drug K9 had been brought by a few days prior to search New Beginnings and upon their arrival, several occupants fled the scene and did not return. It was suggested that a known subject may be a suspect because he was likely to still be in the area after that incident and he also worked in the suspecte3d building before fleeing. Deputy informed parties that if anything was found to be missing or damaged the following day, to call the ECSO.

Complainant stated that while traveling South on Hwy 1 a deer ran out into the roadway causing moderate damage to her vehicle.

Deputy was driving on US 1 North prior to Long Bay Dr. when a dog ran across the highway and deputy was unable to stop and hit the dog.

Deputy responded to W. Church St. for a locked vehicle and unlocked the vehicle.

Deputies responded to Angela Dr. in reference to a domestic dispute. Contact was made with both offenders which was determined that the dispute was verbal and had ensued over living conditions with complainant who is the landlord of the property. Both parties were separated with no pending charges and advised of available remedies.

Complainant went to the ECSO for a report on a lost or stolen tag.

Complainant stated offender was supposed to be buying a phone from her so she was gonna get a friend to meet offender with the phone and offender just showed up at her residence and they got into an argument and offender slammed her on the ground after grabbing her by the neck. Offender had already left the scene before deputy arrived and at the time, there were no visible marks on c/p. C/p was advised of the TPO and warrant process.

Deputy responded to the area of Freedom St. and Happiness Dr. for a complainant stating she had been run off the road near Hwy 192 and Lambs Bridge Rd. and followed the vehicle to their residence. While in route, deputy received another call from the opposing party stating a female had followed them home and was in their yard yelling and had other people meet them there. Upon arrival, deputy spoke with c/p who stated she was driving on Lambs Bridge Rd. and a truck had gone around her and then slammed on brakes, causing her to swerve and go in the ditch. C/p stated she went to talk to the driver of the truck and they left so she followed the truck to their residence and had a friend meet them there. She stated she did not go in the yard, the friend parked down the road, and she was not yelling outside of the residence. When going to attempt to make contact with the driver of the truck, another vehicle pulled up. The driver of that vehicle stated her mother/victim called her about the situation and her mother could not speak English and stated she would translate. She stated the victim was on Thigpen Dr. attempting to pull onto Lambs Bridge Rd, looking both ways and did not see any vehicles so she took a left turn onto Lambs Bridge Rd. Victim stated a vehicle came up behind her very fast and victim continued home where c/p followed her and had her friend block her driveway. Deputy took all info and informed c/p it was an accident and the next time something like this happens, for safety reasons, she should not follow the suspect vehicle. Deputy also informed c/p that she was criminally trespassed from the property and if she returned, she would be arrested.

September 28

A call was made to the ECSO from Treutlen Co. SO in reference to TCSO having offender in custody for warrants from Em. Co. Deputy met TCSO deputy at the county line to pick up offender and transport him to the Em. Co. Jail.

Deputy responded to Bonsue Dr. for found property. Upon arrival, deputy spoke with complainant who stated he found a wallet as in on US 1 when walking home. C/p stated he had not taken anything out of it. Deputy inspected the wallet and found an ID and attempted to contact the victim on several different phone numbers with no success and left a message. Deputy also went to the residence listed on the ID and the resident stated the victim no longer lived there. Items in the wallet were listed on the recovered property list and logged into the evidence locker for safe keeping.

Driver was traveling East on Old Nunez Rd. when a deer ran out in front of her vehicle, causing moderate damage.

Complainant stated she believes offender over-charged her for some yard work.

September 29

Deputies responded to New Life Rd. by 911 in reference to a subject who called in from a crisis hot line threatening suicide and was in possession of a firearm. Upon arrival, deputies were unable to make contact at the said address. Residence appeared to be unoccupied and the front door was pad locked with no inside lights that were visible. No further info was made available to on scene deputies concerning the subject’s whereabouts or well-being.

Deputies responded to I16 in Emanuel County in reference to GSP being in pursuit of a vehicle at speeds of 100 MPH. Upon arriving, deputies set up spike strips and waited for the suspect vehicle to approach. Once the vehicle was in sight, deputy deployed the spike strips and made contact with the suspect vehicle and then removed the spike strips from the roadway and joined back into the pursuit. Pursuit continued into Candler Co. GSP advised that the offender had exited his vehicle and jumped into a Troopers unit and was armed. Law enforcement then tried to stop the suspect from fleeing in the Troopers car and GSP shot out one front tire and one rear tire in attempt to stop the suspect. Suspect kept revving the engine in attempt to escape and the GSP shot at the engine in attempts of disabling the vehicle. Then a female rear passenger was noticed in the vehicle and was removed from the vehicle and safely placed her into a deputy’s vehicle away from the scene. Suspect continued revving the engine causing large amounts of smoke and sparks coming from the vehicle and the suspect was no longer able to be seen inside the vehicle. Suspect then appeared to be trying to break out the driver side window and once the smoke started to clear, deputies observed the suspect getting out of the passenger side window and running up an embankment holding a small silver pistol at his side and ran into the woods. Law enforcement gave a chase and lost him and other units arrived along with K9 and air support. Scene was then turned over to GSP and GBI.

Deputies received a report from complainant advising she went to pick up her 15-year-old sister from her grandmother’s residence because the grandmother was out of town and gave the c/p permission to do so and offender got mad because the sister did not do his laundry and threatened to throw all her belongings in the yard and burned them. C/p then advised that offender texted her a photo showing that the property was in the yard and then threaten to go to c/p’s residence in Toombs Co. and kill her and the witness. Deputy advised c/p to block his calls and call 911 if he showed up at her residence and explained the process to seek in resolving the matter further.

Deputy responded to a suspicious vehicle that was in the area of Wadley-Coleman Lake Rd. Complainant advised that the vehicle had been traveling back and forth in a residential a and it pulled into his driveway appx. 6 times since the day prior. C/p further stated he worried about the possibility of the driver “scouting” for new residences to burglarize given the close proximity of the Jefferson/Emanuel County line. Deputy located the vehicle and made contact with the driver who stated he was a contractor for Pineland Telephone and he was marking the location for new fiber optic lines to be ran through the area. The driver then produced a tablet that had an aerial map that marked the specific location of where the fiber optic cables would be ran. The driver then stated the Pineland was in the process of getting magnetic Pineland logos to be affixed to the sides of his vehicle for work.

Complainant made a forgery report.

Complainant explained that offender threatened to burn his cousin’s house down and kill them. Offender is known to use drugs.

September 30

Deputies were dispatched to the area of W. Pine St. in Adrian in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Called advised the car had been sitting in the area for an extended period of time. Prior to deputy’s arrival, the caller advised the vehicle had left with no lights on. Deputies patrolled the area but had negative contact with the described vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to Williams Rd. in reference to offender being in complainant’s back yard. Deputies spoke to c/p and witness who advised they saw a vehicle which offender is known to drive, pull up at the residence. It was further advised that flashlights were seen in the yard near c/p’s back yard.

Deputy observed an abandoned vehicle parked out of the roadway on Hwy 57 and did not appear to have any visible damage. No one was in or around the vehicle. Registered owner came back wanted out of Glynn Co. for failure to appear. Vehicle was tagged with a warning sticker.

Deputies responded to NE Railroad Ave. in Oak Park in reference to an attempted suicide. 911 advised the male subject was attempting to hang himself in the front yard. While enroute, 911 advised responding deputies that the male subject had left the scene in a described vehicle that had a missing taillight and was unsure of the direction of travel. A few moments later, 911 advised responding units that the c/p contacted the suicidal subject by phone and stated she believed he was calming down and was advised by the male subject that he just needed to get away from the residence for a little while. C/p then requested responding law enforcement and EMS to cancel their response.

911 began receiving multiple calls throughout the county hearing a loud noise that shook houses and rattled windows. Shortly before this, deputies had been outside of their patrol vehicles and observed what was believed to be a meteor flying through the sky. A short period time later, a loud “sonic boom” was heard. Deputies deduced this to being from the previously noted aerial phenomenon. As 911 began dispatching the received calls, deputies advised 911 of the previous and to advise callers of this. The SpaceX Dragon departed from the International Space Station and returned to Earth, and was visible throughout parts of FL and GA.

Deputies were dispatched to Summer St. in reference to complainant hearing an explosion and smelling gas near his residence. Deputies met with c/p who advised he smelled an odor of gas near his residence shortly after hearing an explosion. C/p stated after the explosion, the odor of gas was stronger. Deputies died observe an odor in the area and began attempting to locate the source. Deputies spoke to residents on Winter St. who advised they had been working on a tire that exploded. It was advised that ether had been used while trying to inflate the tire that exploded, explaining he odor of gas. 
Deputy spoke with complainant who stated offender was staying in her camper, which is not hooked up to any sources that’s on her property, while she was on the road working. Cp stated offender messed up her camper and left garbage all inside and defecated in the toilet and shower. C/p also stated offender took out drawers that were inside the camper and messed them up, and c/p wants to press charges.

October 1

Victim stated he found two of his cats laying in his yard deceased with no apparent wounds, and thinks someone poisoned them.

October 2

Deputies made contact with complainant on Hudson Rd. in reference to a report concerning a complaint with a family member who is also a nearby neighbor. C/p stated her uncle/offender shot her dog with an airsoft gun and had also broken into her house appx. 3 months prior. C/p did not do a report because her grandfather, who owns the property, did not want Law Enforcement involved.

October 3

Deputy responded to W. MLK for a locked vehicle. Deputy made contact with c/p who was the registered owner and the vehicle was unlocked.

Deputy responded to Fairground Rd. for a welfare check. The call was originally dispatched to SPD and they initially responded to the residence which was an unlocked camper. No one was found inside. C/p stated he hadn’t seen the subject for 3 days and would check on him, but did not know where he may have gone. Deputy entered the camper and observed a large amount of empty beer cans, roaches, and smoked cigarettes, but no persons were found inside. Neighbors had not seen the subject in several days either. A named subject was called from a number found on a paper inside the camper, but there was no contact info for the victim.

Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 297 in reference to two males walking beside the road, trying to flag down passing motorists. 911 later advised that Toombs Co. contacted them advising of a possible single vehicle rollover on Hwy 297 and advised they received a call for EMS to a residence in their county with the callers advising they had been involved in an accident on Hwy 297. Deputies traveled Hwy 297, resulting in negative contact with anyone walking or crashed vehicles.

Deputy responded to the dumpster on Fairground Rd. for a report of two people dumpster diving and throwing things out of the dumpsters. Upon arrival, deputy made contact with offenders that were searching through trash on the ground and had the vehicle loaded with misc items. Deputy asked offenders for their ID and they stated the did not know they couldn’t take items from the dumpsters, and they were shown the sign at the entry gate. Offenders were informed that their info and a report was going to be forwarded to Code Enforcement and they stated they were living in the vehicle but gave deputy an address listed as their current residency. Offenders were informed to leave the area and did so.

Deputy responded to Monroe St. for a suicidal person. Upon arrival, contact was made with the subject who called 911 herself. C/p stated she had been struggling because her sister had recently passed away and she had taken custody of her children and her niece was causing issues and she had just reached her limit. C/p stated she knew she needed to call for help because if she didn’t, her next move was to commit suicide. Because she was having suicidal thoughts. She allowed deputy to search her person for weapons and nothing was found. C/p already had a bag packed and stated she just wanted to be transported to the hospital for evaluation. She was crying and having a hard time speaking through the tears. C/p stated she would ride in deputy’ patrol unit to EMC so he cancelled EMS and transported her to EMC and during the transport, c/p spoke about her teenage son attempting suicide earlier in the year. Upon arrival at EMC, deputy stood by while c/p was checking in and advised her to call back if she needed him to sit with her until she was called back.

October 4

Deputy made contact with complainant on Hwy 221 S. in reference to a possible prowler call. C/p advised the male subject had previously been seen in the area walking nearby dirt roads and is believed to be homeless.
