ECI Kiddie Cheer Camp Held

Emanuel County Institute (ECI) Cheer Squad held its ECI Kiddie Cheer Camp on Monday, July 25. The event, housed at Emanuel County Institute’s new gym, began at 8 a.m. and welcomed a large group of campers between the ages of 4-years-old and up to fifth grade students.

“We haven’t held our annual cheer camp for the past two summers because of Covid so we were kind of anticipating low numbers with this year’s camp registrations, around 35, at least,” ECI Head Cheer Coach Tabatha Downer explained. The cheer group’s expectations were exceeded by a little more than 20 additional registered campers attending this year’s event and had an overall turnout of 57 mini cheerleaders in attendance, all hyped up with Bulldog Pride.

Participants enjoyed a day full of cheerleading fun as they were instructed on cheers, dance, stunts, jumps and tumbling by ECI cheerleaders. Camp attendees enjoyed a pizza lunch served with chips and drinks and were presented with take-home souvenirs and certificates following their 2 p.m. performances for family and friends at pick-up time.

“This year’s camp was a success, and we appreciate the support we received. The campers and ECI cheerleaders did a great job and we look forward to this year’s camp participants performing at our pregame show set for August 26 at home,” Downer concluded.
