ECI Junior Beta Club attends in State Convention

National Beta members from Emanuel County Institute are celebrating their recent participation in the Georgia Junior Beta State Convention held December 1-2, 2022. The following are announced as winners in state competitions: Club Awards: Living Literature (Mary-Ella Walden, Hadleigh Henry, Zoey Robertson, Aniston O’Dell, Brylee Rountree, and Avery Snellgrove) - 5th place; Technology (Lawson Frye, Hayden Wilson, Sheppard Purcell, and Kevin Juarez-Aragon) - 4th place; and Apparel Design (Charley Mitchell and Jonna Woodward) – 1st place. Individual Awards: Lawson Frye – Speech, 4th place; Camden Hall - 3D Design, 4th place; Kevin Juarez-Aragon – 6th grade Spanish, 4th place; Amelia Meadows – Quilling, 2nd place; Skyler Walden – Sculpture, 4th place; Joni Wimberly – Black & White Photography, 4th place; Davis Johnson - Solo, 4th place; and Chanlee Youmans – Pottery, 5th place. Other Betas attending convention were Alyssa Barnes, Jackson Cavanah, Mason Collins, Aubree Cuneo, Dawson Goodman, Hayden Henry, Brodee Cate Johnson, Zackary Johnson, William Kennedy, Sam Lawrence, Evan May, Robert Reynolds, and Judson Underwood. National Beta State Convention allows students the opportunity to compete in various academic and STEM-based, virtual and performing arts competitions. State Convention was offered as a hybrid event. This gave students the opportunity to compete either virtually or onsite at Savannah Convention Center depending on their level of comfort. These victories at the state level provide an opportunity to compete at the national level. National Convention will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, KY during summer 2023. ECI’s Beta Club was recognized and presented with the GOLD Key Award for growth in participation at the convention level.
