Emanuel County Institute held its Annual Veterans Day program at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022. The ECI Concert Band played the National Anthem. Samuel McBride gave the Veterans and students an opening welcome. The ECI Color Guard presented the Colors, and Cadet Maj. Asia Gibbons gave the invocation. Cadet CSM Tal. Willis led all cadets during the Cadet Creed, and James Myers gave the introductory remarks. Emmi Lai Tyam flawlessly gave the student reading. Cadet LTC. Dean Woods did the introduction of guests. Our guest speaker, Ann Torrence Hester, gave a fantastic speech about respect, self-discipline, and how those aspects will take us far in life. Her speech was very inspiring and opened the eyes of everyone present. She is a 1988 graduate of Jenkins County High School and Joined the United States Army in 1990 as a Military Police Officer. Afterward, ECI's Concert Band amazingly played Patriotic Selections. Parker Frederick led us into prayer. Sullee Boddiford held a moment of silence. ECI Concert Band gave the Service Medley, and Cola Akridge gave the closing. Braeden Hooks played the taps before all were released.
