Eagles soar in region and state track meets

The David Emanuel Academy varsity track and field team traveled to Georgia Southern University to compete in the GIAA A/AA Region Playoffs on April 19. Several Eagle athletes earned a place in region and advancement to compete in the state finals the following week. In the boys division, in the 4 x 100 relay (consisting of Billy Martin, Jesse Moore, Tony Sutton, and Racyn Faircloth), the Eagles placed 3rd in region. Billy Martin placed 2nd in region in the triple jump. Jesse Moore placed 2nd in region in shot put. Racyn Faircloth placed third in region in the long jump. In the girls division, Maddie Perkins placed 3rd in the high jump. All of these athletes advanced to the state finals in their events. Also advancing to the state playoffs, Landon Lindsey qualified in the 1600 meter run, Ebb McCullough in shot put, Jay Carter and Jessie Moore in discus, Billy Martin in long jump, Racyn Faircloth and Tony Sutton in the 100 meter dash, and Maddie Perkins in the 100 meter dash and long jump.

The GIAA State Track and Field Championships were held at Strong Rock Christian Academy in Locust Grove on April 27-29. The athletes competing for the Eagles were Racyn Faircloth, Jesse Moore, Ebb McCullough, Billy Martin, Tony Sutton, Jay Carter, Maddie Perkins, and Landon Lindsey. Jesse Moore, Billy Martin, and Maddie Perkins each placed in state in their individual events. Jesse Moore earned second in shot put, Billy Martin placed seventh in triple jump, and Maddie Perkins placed third in high jump.
