The Emanuel Arts Council’s 2024 Summer Art Camp was held July 22-24 at Vann Community House in downtown Swainsboro. The three-day camp was a huge success, and the campers completed numerous art pieces and projects. Instructor for the camp was Terrie Daniel, assisted by Mark Lillquist and Tmyra Peterson and was sponsored by Mill Creek Foundation.
Campers this year were Emmie Averett, Jackson Bishop, MJ Boatright, Walter Clark, McKenna Cunningham, Trott Everett, Roxanne Farley, Whit Griswold, Neil Patel, Javonte Peterson, Brooks Powell, Dessie Singletary, Lyndon Singletary and August Street.
Volunteers helping out at camp were EAC board members Alan Brasher, Huddie Culbreth, Ron Ellison, Kenny Griffin, Toni Terwilliger and Syvetta Young.
“As it happens every year, there were last minute cancellations. However, since we had such a long waiting list this year, we managed to accommodate more students than we thought possible. “So, it all worked out for the best and I was very pleased.” said Jacquie Brasher, EAC executive director.
Among the many art projects campers created were paintings, clay sculptures, bubble art, color wheels and mosaic boxes.
