Drink Water, Georgia! Campaign a big success

Posted

Drink Water, Georgia officially kicked off in June 2021 and is coming to a close. This summer, University of Georgia Extension and UGA SNAP-Ed worked together to encourage Georgians to drink more water and fewer sugary sweetened beverages in order to stay hydrated. The campaign included a texting campaign in English and Spanish, billboards in Candler, Emanuel and Clarke county and statewide social media posts and videos, all promoting water consumption.

The campaign provided tips for setting goals in order to drink the recommended amount of water per day, water recipes to flavor water with fruit or vegetables. Participants of the texting campaign reported that sliced cucumbers and lemon were their favorite fruit-infused water recipe. There are many options to flavor to your water without adding sugar. Limes, oranges, watermelon, blueberries, mint, and strawberries are favorite choices too. (For more water recipes, go to https://water.foodtalk.org.)

The Drink Water, Georgia! Campaign will provide more key messages about the importance of water in the next few months. We hope you join us to help increase awareness about water consumption in our state.
