Dr. Mariam George

Dr. Mariam George passed away on October 6, 2020. A celebration of life was held Sunday, October 11 at 1pm at the Saliba Chapel on the campus of Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon. Visitation took place ahead of the service from 12-1pm. Interment followed at Pinecrest Cemetery.

Dr. Mariam George was born in Punaloor, Kerala to Mr. K.G. Idiculla & Mrs. Sarah Idiculla. She was married to Dr. C.A. George for 34 years before his passing in October of 2003. Dr. George completed her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Kerala before obtaining her Ph.D. from Howard University in Washington D.C. Her career as a scientist and college professor included time working for the Department of Health and Human Services at the National Institute of Health and 30 years of teaching at Brewton-Parker College. Dr. George is survived by her three children, Dr. Bagie George (son-in-law Dr. JC Morales), Agie George and Cigie George; and one grandchild, George Morales.

A scholarship fund has been set up for donations at Brewton-Parker College in lieu of flowers. Donations can be made by going to www.bpc.edu/alumni/donate; designate that the donation goes to Drs.
