Dr. Davis takes District One

On Monday night, December 6, Dr. D.J. Davis took his seat at the Swainsboro City Council table, representing the city’s district one. The local hometown physician was elected to serve in this capacity after defeating candidate Sue Bragg in a runoff race following the November 2 election results that only differed in five points, Dr. Davis receiving 108 votes and Bragg, 103. A third candidate for Swainsboro City Council District One, Luis A. Machado, received 26 votes.

The election runoff for Swainsboro District One chair was held last week on November 30. Results are as follows:

Early in-person voting – Bragg, 4; Dr. Davis, 20

Mail-in ballots — Bragg, 2; Dr. Davis, 8

Additional votes cast on the day of the runoff included 32 for Bragg and 50 for Dr. Davis, totaling to 38 overall votes casts for Bragg and 78 votes for Dr. Davis.
