Board of Commissioners encourages the public’s assistance in keeping Emanuel County beautiful

Do you know the number of citations issued for trash from September 2021 through December 2021? According to Emanuel County Code Enforcement, the number of citations issued regarding trash around Emanuel County during this time frame was a reported 127. The county spends much of its time trying to resolve the never-ended issue of trash and have several locations available to the public to dispose of unwanted trash and clutter.

Emanuel County dumpsites can be located at the 20 address locations as follows:

1. 10 Dellwood Main Street

2. 288 Fairground Road

3. 1099 Canoochee Road

4. 1569 Highway 80 East

5. 103 Fanning Circle

6. 1180 Cowford Bridge Road

7. 232 Kemp Road

8. 5 Farm Circle

9. 3523 Highway 80 West

10. 8799 Highway 297

11. 547 Whippoorwill Road

12. 1182 Old Kenfield Road

13. 3516 Highway 80 East

14. 1182 Friendship Church Road

Larger items such as lamps, rugs, mattresses and large appliances (without freon) can be disposed of at the following 10 rolloff locations within the county:

The Transfer Station is always an option, too!

• The Transfer Station will accept all household garbage up to one ton at no charge for all county residents. For anything over a ton, all residents will be charged a tipping fee based on weight, not to exceed $50 per ton.

• All business-related tonnage will be charged a tipping fee based on weight, not to exceed $50 per ton.

• The transfer station now accepts limb debris at no charge to Emanuel County residents.

• Currently, the transfer station accepts credit cards, cash or check.

• Normal business operations are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.; and Wednesday and Saturday, 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Transfer Station does not accept the following:

• concrete

• asphalt

• batteries

• hazardous material

• asbestos

Also to be noted…

It is also important to remember that under the county’s litter law, individuals who do not secure trash properly in vehicles are held liable and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible in magistrate court and may be subject to a fine and possibly jail time. Items that typically fly out of vehicles are as follows:

• Corn sacks

• Chicken feed bags

• Ice bags

• Cardboard boxes

• Paper bags

• Fast foot bags
