Dear Editor: Today, we say thank you to our first responders

Posted

Today, we would like to say Thank You to our First Responders of Emanuel County by recognizing them on October 28, National First Responder Appreciation Day.

It is good we have a day of recognition, because sometimes we take your service for granted and we tend to forget there is a human behind every first responder’s badge.

The selfless contributions that you, emergency medical professionals, firefighters, law enforcement personnel, Georgia State Patrol, county deputies, and city police officers make in our cities, towns, and county are familiar to all of us. We see the results of your efforts daily and read about them in our local paper.

The daily sacrifices made by you and your families to provide the outstanding service we receive from you are sincerely appreciated.

To only recognize you for your sacrifices would be incomplete. In addition, to fighting fires and arresting criminals, we appreciate that you perform and teach fire and crime prevention, and make our schools, highways and neighborhoods safer.  Our gratitude extends to the responsiveness of EMT personnel who provide lifesaving care at a moment's notice.

Though you may sometimes feel under-appreciated, we assure you that is not so. When you might have thoughts from time to time of quitting, please don’t. You are needed.

The members of the Emanuel County Veterans Center, Lanier Moore VFW Post 5745 and Swainsboro American Legion Post 103 salute each of you for your outstanding work to this community.

Thank you for all you have done and will continue to do.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless and be safe.
