Deacon Elmo Mcquater passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021. Graveside service was held Saturday, May 1, at 11 a.m. at St. James AME Cemetery in Twin City with Rev. Wilbert Kennedy officiating and Pastor Calvin H. Boykin as Eulogist.
Deacon Mcquater was born May 3, 1946, in Emanuel County, to the late Beulah Williams and John Henry Mcquater. He was a member of Cooper Baptist Church in Twin City, where he was ordained as Deacon on December 11, 1994. Deacon Mcquater later became Chairman Deacon on May 25, 2014. Deacon Elmo was a man that truly loved God. He was a loving and devoted Chairman Deacon, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Deacon Mcquater is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 28 years, Ida Lee Mcquater; two sisters, Effie Mcquater and Mary Mcquater Johnson; two brothers, John Henry Mcquater, Jr. and Donnie Mcquater.
He leaves his memories to cherish with two daughters, Lis Mcquater of Swainsboro and Angela Rebecca George of Twin City; son, Ronald (Tiffany) George, Jr. of Statesboro; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
