David “Shorty” Grimes, 77

Mr. David “Shorty” Grimes, 77, of Twin City, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services were Saturday, October 9, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Roy Jarriel officiating. Interment followed in the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 8, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Norman Goodman, Ronnie Goodman, W.C. Grimes, Troy Berry, Jody Johnson, and Bill Bird.

Mr. Grimes was born July 31, 1944, to the late W.C. Grimes, Sr. and Thelma McCullough Grimes. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and working on cars, and especially loved his family. Mr. Grimes is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene Grimes; son, Wayne Grimes; brothers, Walter Grimes and Allen Grimes; sisters, Evelyn Sikes, Martha Grimes, and Mary Goodman.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Ann Grimes and Cheryl Akridge (Buck Walker) of Twin City; sister, Earlene Archer (Lamar); grandchildren, David “Bubba” Williams (Robin Parker) and Caleb Akridge; great-grandchildren, Bentley Williams, Kataleena Williams, and Walker Hall; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
