Mr. David Ray Johnson, 57, of Swainsboro, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Monday, September 27, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Palma and Pastor Kenneth Edge officiating. Interment followed in the Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum. The family received friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Monday, September 27, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Darin Dobson, Wayne Mercer, Vincent Johnson, Johnathan Johnson, Brandon Vincent, and Hank Churchwell.

Mr. Johnson was born May 07, 1964, in Swainsboro, to the late Willie Rayford Johnson and Peggy Jo Chalker Johnson. He was a retired log truck driver. Mr. Johnson loved his family, and most importantly, his grandchildren, and loved being outside. He was the caretaker and member of Emanuel Worship Center. Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bryant Johnson, Wyman Johnson, and Jerry Johnson; and grandson, Nicholas Caden Wilkerson. 

Survivors include his wife, Diane Tanner Johnson of Swainsboro; son, David Rayford Johnson of Swainsboro; daughters, Lacey Scott (Grady) and Lori Johnson (Jason Wilkerson) both of Twin City; brothers, Dale Johnson (Deborah), Alford Johnson (Tammy), and Cecil Johnson all of Swainsboro; sisters, Glenda Johnson (Rick) of Brunswick and Suzanne Lovett of Twin City; grandchildren, Zackary Scott, Amber Scott, Jayden Wilkerson, Jayda Wilkerson, Jayla Wilkerson, Jaycee Wilkerson, and Jayce Johnson; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
