Why do so many Christians struggle with cussing? A lot of people try to justify their using dirty language or downplay it. Truth is it seems like most people today, even Christians, have become content with and unconvicted about cussing. Although we are all sinners and all fall short, why are we so unwilling to address our shortcomings? It is not ok for Christians to cuss. It is a stumbling block to say the very least. But more so it is disobedience to Gods Word in Col 3:8. And the Bible says to him that know the good that he should do and do it not, to him it is sin. I’m not saying it’s any worse than running a red light or telling a lie, we all have sin, but it’s not ok. It’s time that We the people of God start addressing the sin that is in our lives instead of justifying and covering it up. This is not a “rant” but rather a loving calling out of Gods people. It’s time we step up and expect better from ourselves. We so easily see the wrong in others, it’s time we see and address our own sin. Maybe it’s not cussing for you but whatever your struggling with, it’s time to call it out and put it away.
“But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.” Colossians 3:8
