COTW: Heston Brixx Akridge


This week’s Cook of the Week is Heston Brixx Akridge, son of Brandon Akridge and Jada Wilkerson of Swainsboro. Heston enjoys riding the golf cart and feeding the chickens. He turns 1-year-old August 26th. This birthday boy would like to share his favorite three recipes. Enjoy!
Mashed Potatoes
Salt & Pepper
Peel and dice potatoes. Fill a large pot halfway with water. Add potatoes to water and boil for 15 minutes on high. Strain potatoes and return to pot. Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Blend until potatoes are the consistency you desire.
Crock Pot Roast with Potatoes & Carrots
Beef broth
Brown gravy mix
Salt & Pepper
Add roast to slow cooker. Cover with beef broth. Add brown gravy mix, potatoes, carrots, salt, and pepper. Cook on high for about 6 hours.
Blueberry Muffins
Martha White blueberry muffin mix
Cooking spray
Heat oven to 425 degrees. Lightly spray muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray. Combine muffin mix and ½ cup milk in small mixing bowl. Stir until moistened. Fill muffin cups about 2/3 full. Bake for 14 – 17 minutes. Let cool for 2-3 minutes.
