Commissioner Chairman Sherrod drops letter to local citizens

An open letter to the citizens of Emanuel County,

It’s another great day in Emanuel County. I would like to take this opportunity to help spread the word on the upcoming Keep Emanuel Beautiful County Wide Clean Up Day. This Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. in various parts of our county and at the fountain in Swainsboro, we will kick off what I hope to be the first step in getting Emanuel clean and keeping Emanuel clean. Citizens in Canoochee, Cross-Green Community, Garfield, Summertown and Swainsboro will be out and about picking up trash and other items that are a blight on our communities.  Please use caution when driving through these areas. Also, if you can, we are asking you to do the same in your neck of the woods.  May 6 and May 7 will see the 75th Annual Pinetree Festival and Southeast Timber Expo once again in Emanuel County. What better time to show off our county than then? People from miles around will be attending the festival and I, for one, would like for them to leave saying, “Man! Emanuel County has got it going on.”

Join us this Saturday, April 23, on “putting our foot down on trash and picking it up.” Let’s all do our part in making Emanuel County the cleanest county in the state of Georgia. I hope to see you Saturday, April 23, and then again on May 7 for the longest running festival in the southeast, The 75th Annual Pinetree Festival and Southeast Timber Expo.

God Bless,

Jim Sherrod, Chairman – Emanuel County Board of Commissioners
