Closer to God

Posted

Now as time passes us, we constantly see changes in our community, nation and the world. There are things which are happening and things which are to come upon us. You may not have time to pray. Most people are trying to find an answer so they can continue doing the things they want to do. Well I will suggest being prepared before troubles comes your way. Yes, troubles will come for the word of God in Job 14:1 tells us, "Man that is born of a woman is full of trouble and a few days." So today we will evaluate a scripture from James 4:1-10.

To get closer to God, we must make changes. James says, " You want things but can't have them, so you are ready to kill; you strongly desire things, but you cannot get them, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have what you want because you do not ask God for it. And when you ask, you do not receive it, because your motives are bad; you ask for things to use for your own pleasures.". He goes on to say that to be the world's friend means you are God's enemy. The spirit that God placed in us is full of strong desires. But the grace that God gives us is stronger."

As the scripture says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.". "So then, submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil and he will run away from you. Come near to God, and he will come near to you.". He goes on to say, "Wash your hands, you sinners! Purify your hearts you hypocrites! Be sorrowful, cry, and weep; change your laughter into crying, your joy into gloom! Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

So when we change our ways and get closer to God, he will get closer to us. Also when we resist the devil, he will run from us. So while we have time, let's not put it off. God has graced us to resist our fleshly desires and get closer to him. Matthew 6:31 says, to seek God's kingdom first, and things will be added to you. Isaiah 55:6 says, " Seek the Lord while you can find him, call upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. and let him return unto the Lord and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.". So "Get Closer to God".
