Mr. Clayton Alexander Williams, 91, passed away Monday morning February 13 at Cedar Plantation in Metter, GA.
Born in Charlotte, N.C. May 26, 1931 to Clayton A. Williams, Sr. and Willie Mae Williams, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann Robertson Williams and three sons, Terrance Clayton, Timothy Wayne and Michael Ray.
After graduating from Matthews High School, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country. After his service he worked in his family’s machine shop business before becoming a manufacturing engineer. In 1976 he completed a degree in business from Kings College (UNCC). His career led him to Swainsboro, Georgia as plant manager of Automatic Sprinkler. He went on to work with United Technologies and Outboard Marine Corporation. He was a Christian.
He loved wood working, golfing with his friends and had a passion for restoring cars. After his wife passed away he traveled across the country, visiting almost every state.
He is survived by two sons, Mark (Andrea) Williams of Swainsboro, Jeff (Linda) Williams of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Joann Cloninger of Huntersville, NC, Betty Jean Rasmussen of Deland, Florida and Linda Kay Funderburk of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His family wishes to thank employees of Emanuel County Hospital, Cedar Plantation and Regency Southern Care Hospice for their dedication in the later weeks of his life.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
