In coordination with Twin City’s year-long centennial celebration, a groundbreaking ceremony for the city’s new park, Twin City Centennial Park and Trail, was held Friday, June 18, at the corner of South Railroad and First Avenues. The ceremony began promptly at 10 a.m. with Mayor Matt W. Donaldson welcoming all. Mayor Pro Tem Jule Bady, Jr. gave the invocation.
Remarks were heard from Representative Butch Parrish, Senator Max Burns, and Senator Billy Hickman. Mayor Donaldson followed with additional remarks pertaining to the city project.
Members of Twin City Commission and Twin City Centennial Committee then broke ground on the future park location - the old railroad bed that runs through Twin City.

Closing remarks were then heard from Mayor Donaldson, who announced upcoming plans for a name-the-park contest to be held for youth and adult participants. Further information will be relayed to the public once received from the City of Twin City.
Individuals in attendance enjoyed light refreshments served across the street at Lew’s BBQ following ceremony conclusion.
