Christians are not sinless, but should sin less

I love Krispy Kreme donuts. And as with most things in life, our kids pick up on what the parents are into, so I have passed my passion for mouth-watery donuts on to my kids. If we are ever in a town where there is a Krispy Kreme, we always make plans to stop by. On one particular such trip, we didn't really have time to stop and my family was devastated. So, I made them a promise. I told them that if we ride by Krispy Kreme and there is an empty parking spot “right in front of the door”, we would make an exception and stop. Well, after the third time riding by, sure enough, there it was right in front of the door - an empty parking spot. So, what could I do? A promise is a promise…

Of course, this story is a joke, but the story does hold a lot of truth. First, many times we treat sin this way in our lives. We know it's bad for us, but we have a hard time letting go. Even to the point that we will go out of the way to make it accessible. If you know you are struggling with a certain sin, make every effort not to go by there, wherever there is. Don't ride by several times just to see.

Next, our kids are watching, listening, and learning; picking up on what they see their parents doing. They will likely, one day, be into whatever you are into today. So, think about that on the next “lap around the block”.

And, finally, we do love Krispy Kreme donuts, lots and lots of donuts.
