China Temple to celebrate 91 years

China Temple Holiness Church will celebrate its 91st anniversary Sunday, June 13, with service beginning at 10 a.m.

In 1930, China Culbreth and others formed the Wrightsville church in a brush harbor. Culbreth, a retired teacher, was handicapped with one leg but served faithfully until her passing and foresaw that the members were coming to service for two years.

Elder James Blair serves as pastor and has served this capacity for 51 years. and Reverend Gladys Whicker serves as assistant pastor of China Temple Holiness Church. The church chairman is Deacon Jack Johnson and its secretary is Marie Badie.

Through many trials and tribulations, the church has grown through leaps and bounds. China Temple Holiness Church currently has 13 members and has recently been renovated. New church features include a beautiful social hall, new roofing, a pastor's study, new pews, and more.

“Through God’s grace and mercy, we continue to strive. Come help us celebrate 91 years of service unto God,” stated Badie.

Temple Holiness Church is located at 83 E.Tribley Street in Wrightsville. All are invited to attend.
