Ms. Carolyn Linda Powell, 75, of Midville, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at her residence following a brief illness. Funeral Services were held Saturday, September 26 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Shannon Boula officiating. Interment followed in Swainsboro City Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, September 26 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6--feet rule was enforced during visitation and service.

Pallbearers were Chris Henry, Rev. Shannon Boula and Wayne Wilkerson.

Ms. Powell was born November 15, 1944 to the late Willie Bowden and Rena Cowart Bowden. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lodis Curl and Navis Powell; daughters, Teresa Ann Curl and Linda Annette Curl; brothers, Bobby Bowden and Cleve Bowden; sisters; Clara Skinner and Elizabeth Curl; and niece, Beth Curl. Ms. Powell enjoyed fishing, eating at Cracker Barrel, watching the Atlanta Braves and game shows. She loved her dogs, Silverback, Fred, Duke and Bonnie. Ms. Powell never met a stranger. She was known as Granny to everyone she met. Ms. Powell was a member of Midville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Curl (Francine Oglesby) of Midville; grandchildren, Christy (Matt) Wiggins of Swainsboro, Betsy (Alex) Estrada of Louisville, Brandi Turner of Sylvania, Wayne (Mallory) Wilkerson of Metter; brothers, John Bowden of Canoochee and James (Frankie) Bowden of Columbus; sister, Alice (Jimmy) Davis of Atlanta; great-granddaughter, Dollie Jo-Ann Wiggins; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
